Larry Turner

Larry moved to Colorado in 1977 to become the director of a local county hospital laboratory.  He eventually directed the laboratory of both hospitals in Durango and became hospital administrator for two years.  From 1985 to 2016 he was part owner and managed a successful real estate company with 7 offices in the Southwest.  Larry also served in the military as a Special Forces Medic from 1966 to 1969. 

 

He has served on numerous boards and committees in the Durango area.  Most notably directed the Manna Soup Kitchen development of a new building to train culinary students and help them attain employment.   In conjunction with his wife Sandy, they have led 18 Medical Mission teams to the highlands of Guatemala to help the under served populations.  He also serves as the chair of the Health Committee for the Friends of San Lucas mission.  This committee assists in directing the visit of over 20 medical teams a year to the area and as advisor to the local mission hospital. 

 

Larry and his wife of 32 years have three children and two grandchildren.  Their family and involvement in local church groups is of ultimate importance in their daily life.
